What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a licensed and regulated Health profession practiced in numerous countries of the western world. It provides for treatment of the structural human body (and, in many states of the US, treatment of animals), with a focus on spinal joints. The treatment is typically by hand or instrument.

What conditions do Chiropractors help?

Chiropractors focus on treating pain and dysfunction in the skeletal, neurological, and muscular systems of the body. Chiropractic treatment is often a sought-after treatment for headaches, neck and back pain, sciatica, disc problems, and postural problems.

Some of my friends and even my MD say that I should not see a chiropractor. If Chiropractic is helpful, why are some many negative about it?

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a procedure done by a licensed chiropractor. It involves the use of hands or instruments to deliver a precise appropriate force to a skeletal joint. The objective is to restore joint mobility, provide pain relief, and improve function.

  • Benefits:

Chiropractic adjustments are believed to help improve range of motion, reduce pain, and alleviate pressure on nerves.

  • How it works:

By restoring proper alignment and motion to spinal joints, adjustments reduce muscle tension, inflammation,  and nerve irritation, allowing the body to heal more effectively.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Yes, chiropractic treatment is generally considered safe, especially when done by a licensed chiropractor. Some minor side effects may occur, but the risk of serious complications is extremely low.

How many Chiropractic appointments will I need?

Chiropractic appointments needed depend on individual history and the condition being treated. A more frequent schedule is often needed to address more serious and longer-term conditions, followed by a reduced frequency for maintenance and preventative care.

What are the benefits of chiropractic care?

Chiropractic adjustments help improve range of motion, reduce pain, improve function, and potentially alleviate pressure on nerves.

Are there any risks associated with chiropractic treatment?

Chiropractic care, while most often helpful, can sometimes cause temporary reactions. These are usually mild and short term, resolving in a day or two. There could be soreness or pain, and some stiffness. Dr. Carbary has not experienced any significant adjustment issues throughout nearly four decades of practice.

Are chiropractic adjustments painful?

It is not unusual for some soreness to occur after a chiropractic adjustment. Prolonged or intense soreness is a rare occurrence at Chiropractic Little Rock.

Why should I pick you as my chiropractor?

  • Four decades of dedicated and accomplished experience.
  • Extensive University training in adjusting and understanding joint physiology on not only people but dogs, cats, and horses as well.
  • Individual and liberal time allocation so patients do not feel herded or rushed. Every patient had his or her visit time. NO herd booking.

How long does a chiropractic appointment last?

At Chiropractic Little Rock: First visit, one hour; subsequent visits, 15 minutes.

How are chiropractors educated?

Dr. Carbary has an undergraduate degree; a Master’s degree, a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He is a member of MENSA.

Can pregnant women see a chiropractor?

Dr. Carbary has extensive experience in assisting numerous women through pregnancy. Chiropractic care has been shown to effectively reduce discomfort and potentially shorten labor duration. Research indicates that first-time mothers who undergo chiropractic treatment during pregnancy may experience a 25% decrease in labor time, while mothers with previous vaginal deliveries who receive chiropractic care may observe a 31% reduction in labor duration.

Why would some medical doctors say to never go to a chiropractor?

Chiropractic has been put down and falsely represented by many MDs (mostly ones who are older) mainly because of Chiropractic’s impact and success as a separate healthcare profession outside of Medicine. I offer that Chiropractic, in the U.S., has been the ONLY separate ‘portal of entry’, non-limited body part specialized like Dentistry or Optometry, a health care profession that has survived more than 100 years separate from Medicine. Chiropractors may focus on the spine, but a smaller but significant number of patients come to Chiropractors for more than joint pain problems.

This separate upstart profession inspired medical groups (spearheaded by the AMA) to try to discredit and eliminate Chiropractic by claiming it was dangerous and scientifically invalid in providing help for people. Before 1987, any medical doctor who engaged with a chiropractor in any capacity, such as referring patients, was liable to face disciplinary action by medical boards. In 1987, because of a legal suit that was heard and settled by the US Supreme Court, it was decided that the Medical Profession’s justification for its attack on Chiropractic was inspired by “anti-trust” motivation rather than scientific public protecting validation.

Even today there are many ‘old head ‘MDs who, out of ignorance or malice, spread false information about Chiropractic.
